One thing I forgot to mention was that, by skipping Delaware yesterday, I’m actually running one day early from here on out. I wasn’t supposed to explore Jersey until today, Sunday, but here I am leaving the state and heading to New York and Boston. My hotel reservation in Boston isn’t until Tuesday, which means I’ll have all day tomorrow to kill in Connecticut (wahoo!) and Rhode Island.
Another thing: Jersey lefts. In Michigan, we have what’s called a “Michigan Left,” where in Detroit you drive ahead of where you’re supposed to turn left, and cut across the median and make a U-turn.
Here, they have what must be called a “Jersey Left,” where you actually turn right to turn left. You turn right and drive down a special looping road that takes you to a perpendicular street, drive under the light and across the median, and make your left from there. It’s amazing. And anyone who makes fun of Michigan’s turning infrastructure should get a load of this.
Sunny this morning, but rain coming this afternoon. Off to IHOP I go.
